Southmead Development Trust (SDT) is a charity run by, and working to support, residents of North Bristol. In partnership with other community groups and charities we raise funds and manage projects which directly address our community’s needs. These projects aim to increase opportunities, reduce isolation and promote wellbeing.
Southmead Development Trust runs The Greenway Centre (a Healthy Living Centre in North Bristol), Southmead Youth Centre and Southmead Adventure Playground- focusing on neighbourhoods that are within England’s top 10% areas of deprivation. Regarded as a Community Anchor Organisation for North Bristol, we support all residents of North Bristol, with a particular focus on lower socio-economic groups who experience Bristol’s greatest social, wealth and health inequalities. Our USP is our integration of services supporting a holistic approach for individuals, which include:
– leading on social prescribing across the North of Bristol
– A partnership project with adult social care, enabling personalised care
– Employment and training provision
– Improving access to mental health services
– A community gym and exercise on referral programme
– A community café
Our core offer is complemented by structured programmes and activities, such as Wellbeing Arts, which enables us to support those who access our different projects to improve their wellbeing in a supportive environment.
